"Prepare the Way"
"How, then, can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!'" ~ Romans 10:14-15
These questions from Paul underscore the responsibility we have to carry on the legacy of John the Baptist, preparing the way for the Lord in people's hearts. God works to prepare a smooth path in the middle of the rugged terrain of our hearts, but He does this work through those He has sent to preach. But this doesn't only refer to "preachers". All who believe in and follow Jesus are responsible to take part in the sharing of the good news, which ultimately prepares people to see the Lord. Sharing the good news isn't just that Jesus saved us, but that through submitting to and obeying His will, we have a chance at the abundant life He desires for us. That's why John the Baptist and Jesus both preached repentance and urgency, preparing people to receive salvation through the Messiah. This week at Friendship, we'll look at our responsibility to help "Prepare the Way" for the Lord, and what each of us needs in our own hearts in order to see and receive Him. Join us for a chance to consider what God is doing both in you and through you to prepare yourself and others for His arrival!
