Kingdom Heirs
"If anyone causes one of these little ones - those who believe in me - to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea" ~ Matthew 18:6
This is one of several places in the Gospels where Jesus explains the seriousness with which He welcomes, protects, and loves children. Children are among the most vulnerable members of our society, and the disciples often saw them as just getting in the way. Sadly, that mentality has carried over to many in our modern society who are comfortable with the abortion of unborn children simply because they would be an inconvenience to the parents. But Jesus made time for the children, blessed them, and even used them as a model for His followers, stating that only those who become like little children - in their ability to trust and love - will enter the kingdom of God. If children are esteemed this highly by our God, we must consider what He requires in terms of how we love, serve, and protect them. This week at Friendship, we'll talk about "Kingdom Heirs", which is one way to describe children and those who emulate them in the eyes of God. We'll also have Love Life with us as we focus on standing for justice for the most vulnerable and oppressed among us. You won't want to miss our time together, so join us for this important message!
