"Sex"
"The Bible does not counsel sexual abstinence before marriage because it has such a low view of sex but because it has such a lofty one" ~ Tim Keller
Let's be honest, most of us have not believed or trusted the above statement when it comes to sex. We've lived our lives as if there is something missing that God has kept from us, and the only way to find out about it was to disobey His clear commands. The temptation to see what we're missing is the exact same thing that led Adam & Eve into the first sin, when they ate the forbidden fruit in order to find out what wisdom and knowledge God had that they did not have. If we could only trust that His ways are better for us and that obeying His commands leads to the best possible outcome, we would resist this ongoing temptation to see and know what is not meant for us. In order to trust God regarding our sexuality, we must understand His creation of it as a gift for us, and His intentions for it. This week at Friendship, we'll discuss the Foundation of "Sex". What is God's plan for it regarding His command to "be fruitful and multiply"? What is His plan for the marital covenant and one-flesh relationship? You may not be used to hearing about it from the pulpit, but regardless of whether the Church talks about it, we know the world won't stop. So come and be open to what the One who created you has to say about your sex life. Leave your shame and regrets at the door and let your mind be renewed by the Holy Spirit!
