"Generosity"

"From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked" ~ Luke 12:48b

The words of Jesus here in Luke's gospel account reveal that God does not give us good gifts so that we can waste or mismanage them. If we have been given much, there is a purpose He has for it. We must remember that everything we have in this world belongs to God. When you lease a car or an apartment, you have to follow the rules set forth by the one from whom you are leasing. God is a far more gracious owner than most, allowing us a lot of freedom in how we manage what He gives us, but that doesn't make Him any less the owner! We will all be called to give an account for how we managed what He gave us, so we would do well to keep in mind that it belongs to Him and is only in our care as temporary stewards. We ought to be thankful for what He gives us, and that gratitude should motivate us to use it all for His glory. This week at Friendship, we will talk about the foundation of "Generosity". What does God require of His people? What does it mean to practice faithful generosity? And how is our generosity connected to our gratitude? These questions and more will be answered in this message, so join us for a reshaping of your own view of money, material possessions, and all that God has given you!
