"Resurrection"
"I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms" ~ Ephesians 1:18-20
Do you really know the power of God in your life? Maybe you think you do because you are "saved", but are you still walking in the same old ways, falling victim to the same old temptations? God showed mighty strength when He raised Jesus from the tomb and brought Him back to heaven to sit at His right hand, but Easter Sunday should not be the only time you think about that. Paul tells us that the same power that God used to perform the greatest miracle of all time is available to you and I, because through the Holy Spirit the power is already in us. We don't have to give into those temptations or chase after those sinful pleasures anymore because we have the power to overcome them and to resist the devil's schemes. But it starts with trusting Him to guide you. When you step out away from the thing to which you've always turned, you need to trust that God will carry you and direct you through the unknown. This week at Friendship, we appropriately address the foundation of "Resurrection". Come and hear about the faith of Abraham, the hope of trusting in God completely, and the new life that the resurrection means for each of us. Bring a friend and rejoice with us in the bringing of new life from death!
