Discerning His Will
"Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long" ~ Psalm 25:4-5
In the age of almost every human being having access to a GPS that literally speaks to us and tells us where to go, it seems there are fewer and fewer people who know how to get where they are going without it. However, many of us grew up having to follow a combination of maps, directions given to us by others or the Internet, and signs on the road. Without these, we would've been completely lost! Spiritually, we have a journey to take for which we are not 100% certain of the directions. We must discover, accept, and yield to God's will. This is one of the most difficult things for many believers, because we sit back and think, "How can we ever understand what His will is for us?" The truth is, we usually think of His will as the destination, when it's actually the journey. God has given us His written directions, and He supplies road signs along the way, but we must never get ahead of Him, for then we end up lost! This week at Friendship, we will talk about "Discerning His Will" as part of taking the fight to the enemy. We'll look at some of the written directions He has given us, as well as how to respond to the new signs He reveals. Join us as we discuss both the journey and the destination!
