Asking With Humility

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time" ~ 1 Peter 5:6

The "in due time" portion of that verse is always the hardest to accept, isn't it? We come to the Lord honestly and ask Him to move in our lives or in a specific circumstance, then about five minutes later, we're going, "Lord, are you going to handle this or what?" The five minutes might be an exaggeration, but you get the point. We try to humble ourselves, but then all humility goes out the window when God isn't meeting our timing expectations. True humility before God means we recognize it's up to HIM to determine when to lift us up, and also when to bring us down. True humility before God also looks to God to decide what is best, regardless of what we are asking of Him. This week at Friendship, we'll discuss "Asking with Humility" as another necessary component to our prayer life. We must never approach God as if He owes us or we deserve His blessing. And when we experience suffering or tragedy, it's another opportunity to humbly approach the Creator who is sovereign over all things. Join us to learn more about your relationship with Him!
