"The Bible"
"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever" ~ Isaiah 40:8
When everything else fades or falls apart, the word of God will stand. I write this as the national news is currently obsessed with getting everyone's statement on a tragic incident in Minnesota that ended with the death of a 37-year old woman. The incident happened less than eight hours ago. Watching football over the weekend, I saw reporters want the immediate reactions of players on losing teams who had poured their heart and soul into a successful outcome for months only to have their seasons come to a screeching halt in failure. These attempts at getting instant soundbites have lead to nothing but confusion, distraction, and division between sides. Why are we as a society so desperate to hear what everyone else has to say on important matters and so reluctant to consult the word of our living God? Hosea 4:6 says, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge". Knowledge isn't everything, but if we refuse to crack open God's word outside of church, it's hard to even suggest we know Him. Can you really know someone you never hear from? This week at Friendship, we will talk about the foundation of "The Bible", which will hopefully make us want to read it more. When you know where it comes from and what it does in your life, you won't have a hard time picking it up. Join us for answers to some of your biggest questions about the reliability of the Bible!
