"Children of God"

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him" ~ 1 John 3:1

There have been many times when my children have openly doubted the love my wife and I have for them. It's generally based on circumstances and we are told, "If you really loved me you'd give me what I want". As any parent knows, that is neither true nor a successful manipulation attempt. Our love for them is not bound by circumstance, but is a direct result of them being our children. One day, they will understand how great was their parents' love for them! I imagine that God looks at us the same way. His love for us is unconditional and a direct result of our being His children, yet circumstances still cause us to doubt it at times. All we need to do is look at what He's done for us to be reminded. There are billions of people on our planet, however, who don't know His love. They don't know that through Jesus we can become children of God, adopted to receive all His love. Is Jesus waiting for them to know it to return? Is it up to us to make sure we tell them?
