"Age Matters"

"As I looked, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of His head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze" ~ Daniel 7:9

If you have children who have advanced into their teenage years, there is a good chance you may have uttered this phrase to them: "I wasn't born yesterday". Usually, it is said when you have caught them thinking they could pull a fast one on you. Your wisdom and experience, and possibly your own similar attempts when you were a teen, have led to them having no chance to get away with or convince you of anything. The prophet Daniel received an apocalyptic vision of God and decided the only phrase he could come up with which accurately describes what he saw is "Ancient of Days". Daniel uses it three times in that chapter, but no one else uses it anywhere else in the Bible. It's like Daniel saw God as One who tells His children, "I've been here awhile; I wasn't born yesterday, kids". This week at Friendship, we'll talk about the greatness of God in a message titled "Age Matters". We'll discuss questions related to the age of the earth, as well as how we read and understand Scripture written in a certain time and context 2,000 years ago. You may think these issues are minor, but they lead right to the core of what we believe about God our Creator and the Lord Jesus, so this is one message you do not want to miss!
