"The Origin of Fear"
"The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?" ~ Psalm 27:1
Life in this fallen world can be scary at times. Just about everyone goes through those moments where you feel like you are stranded alone in a small boat in the middle of a dark, vast ocean and you're desperate for some semblance of light. You're looking for any glimmer of hope to help you persevere. Then, once you find it, you hold on for dear life because you don't want to lose it again. For David, he found that the Lord was his true light and Savior, and that once secure in Him, there was no one else to fear. David may have still struggled and been afraid at times, but he ultimately put his hope in the Lord. He acknowledged that he was going through hard times, but because he knew God was with him, he would not fear. This week at Friendship, we will discuss questions about "The Origin of Fear" and talk about what the Bible says about it. Ultimately, the fear of the Lord has to be our foundation, with the knowledge of His love for us what drives out all other fears. If you find yourself more and more afraid of the uncertainties of this life these days, then join us for a look at where fear originated, as well as encouragement to trust and obey God!
