"Yours is the Kingdom"

"The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all" ~ Psalm 103:19

David was a king, a might warrior who had slain the giant and delivered God's people from the hand of the Philistines. Yet, he also recognized that his earthly authority was temporary and fleeting, and that God's kingdom reigns over all earthly kingdoms. This led David to be so close to God that God called him "a man after my own heart". David sought the Lord in most situations, because he recognized his own limitations compared to the unlimited power and authority of God. This sort of perspective would dictate how David carries himself and would keep him grounded. The same is true for us today. Believers can certainly talk about "the Kingdom", but many don't even understand what that means for their lives. If God is King, that means that you cannot be. If God is the One who rules over all, that means it'd be best to be on His side. If God desires that we live in peaceful relationship with one another, it's a good idea to make that a priority amongst brothers and sisters in Christ. This week at Friendship, we'll begin to look at Jesus' great conclusion in the Lord's Prayer, starting with the phrase, "Yours is the Kingdom". What does that mean? How might it impact our lives? How should it dictate our treatment of one another over disputable matters in Scripture? These are just a few of the questions we'll attempt to answer this weekend, and we hope to see you there!
