"A Great Opportunity"
"And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity" ~ Colossians 4:3-5
We probably all learned when we were young that we better be ready to open the door when opportunity comes knocking. But how do you define opportunity? Does it only knock for you when the circumstances are perfect and everything is lined up and controlled so you have no reason to fear? Are you looking for the perfect situation and it's causing you to reject every other possibility because it doesn't fit what you want or expect? Do your "opportunities" only exist when they lead to wealth or comfort for you? Paul wrote the words to the brothers and sisters in Colossae while he was imprisoned, yet he found a way to see that time as an opportunity and encouraged them to see the opportunities to preach Christ in their circumstances, whether ease or hardship. This week at Friendship, we'll wrap up the AMPLIFIED sermon series by looking through Paul's journey from the time he was arrested to the time he finally reached Rome to await his trial before Caesar. All along the way, Paul learned to submit to God's will and see each plot twist and turn as "A Great Opportunity" to testify about Jesus. We can learn to have this outlook just the same as Paul. Join us and be encouraged to make the most of every opportunity in your life!
