"Caring for the Sick"

May 11, 2025    Pastor Logan Ames

"But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds", declares the Lord, "because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares" ~ Jeremiah 30:17

As we approach Mother's Day weekend when we give special recognition and honor to the mothers and women God has placed in our lives, few memories will stand out more than when they cared for us during times of illness, weakness, or even moral failure. They have not only a genuine desire to see those who are sick restored and healed, but also a strong commitment to see it through. They're not merely wishing or praying for healing, but they're willing to get involved to help make it happen. These qualities come from God, who created them in His image. Our God sees the sick when others have forgotten them and He is willing to go to great lengths to care for them. He is filled with compassion for them and often heals them, with the goal of a permanent healing and rest for their souls if they will just believe in Him. This week at Friendship, we'll talk about the mandate for the Church to be "Caring for the Sick", because we are the body of Christ led by His Spirit. When Jesus walked the earth, He often went out of His way to meet, minister to, and restore the sick or weak. We, His followers, must go and do likewise. Don't miss this important reminder of one of the duties of being a disciple of Jesus!
