"Family for the Fatherless"

Jun 15, 2025    Pastor Logan Ames

"Listen, my sons, to a father's instruction; pay attention and gain understanding. I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching. For I too was a son to my father, still tender, and cherished by my mother. Then he taught me, and he said to me, 'Take hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands, and you will live'" ~ Proverbs 4:1-4

We all understood when we were little that our fathers knew best. They may not have always made good decisions and they may have even caused us pain, but we trusted their wisdom. As we grew older, and even as we learned more about their sinful actions and mistakes, any wisdom they had passed on to us about life still applied. It can be said that wisdom is the application of knowledge, and when we make wise choices, it benefits our lives and the lives of those around us. This universal truth is only magnified when we are talking about godly wisdom, which comes from the guidance of our heavenly Father and is readily available to all regardless of what we experienced from our earthly parents. This week at Friendship, we will talk about the need of "Family for the Fatherless" and how God our heavenly Father searches out the lonely orphans and surrounds them with love and protection. He primarily does this through His CHURCH! If you are still reeling from pain inflicted upon you by a father figure in your life, if you are lonely, or if you are a follower of Jesus motivated to be part of His solution for the fatherless, this message is for you!
