"Feeding the Hungry"

Jun 1, 2025    Associate Pastor Ben Sorbello

They asked, and He brought quail, and gave them bread from heaven in abundance. He opened the rock, and water gushed out; it flowed through the desert like a river. For He remembered His holy promise, and Abraham, His servant. ~ Psalm 105:40-42 ESV

Even though the children of Israel were complainers, liars, and idolaters, the Father loved His children so much that He fed them when they were hungry.

Have you ever heard the quote, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Could it be applied to followers of Christ? Have you fed someone a fish, or taught them to fish? Could the fish be a metaphor for something else, or is it just referring to the animal or food? This weekend at Friendship, we will be exploring what it means to "Feed the Hungry". Have you ever had the opportunity to host a party and invite people over? Usually, part of the plan is feeding them. How much thought do you put into that process? Do you consider each individual attending the party? How did Jesus, our Lord and Savior, address feeding people? If we are to be ambassadors of Christ, do we know what to do? How do we respond when we are living in His kingdom, and while driving we come across someone who is hungry?
