"The Outpouring"

"Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being" ~ Genesis 2:7

Ever since our creation, mankind has needed the Holy Spirit in order to live. The word "breath" in the Hebrew can also be translated "spirit". Without the spirit of God breathed into him, Adam was nothing but a lifeless piece of clay. He had been formed and was ready to move and work, but he needed the spirit. Likewise, believers today show no signs of true life unless they are obedient and submissive to the Holy Spirit. The Spirit fills up those who are receptive and submissive, not those who are content to live by their own flesh and power. He is our power source, and without Him, no matter how formed and ready we may be, we are useless. This week at Friendship, we'll look at "The Outpouring" of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost on the believers who were obedient to Christ and waited patiently. While the signs and wonders accomplished in the Spirit's power caught people's attention, what they really needed to know was how it all relates to the saving work of Jesus. So we will cover Peter's sermon in Acts 2 as well. You absolutely don't want to miss this message!
