Love Begets Love

When my brother and I were younger and wanted to give up on sports or activities that were extremely difficult, our parents taught us a very important life lesson: Don't ever give up! Along with that lesson was the push to use failures as a stepping stone, and to keep trying harder to overcome the obstacles. However, our parents also taught us the truth that we always have and always will NEED Jesus. I'm grateful for the juxtaposition of those two lessons, because it taught me that I should always give 100% effort and when even that proves to be insufficient, I should look to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Many of us find ourselves overwhelmed and frustrated by our inability to love God or love others the way we desire, but maybe we should stop focusing so much on OUR ability. This week at Friendship, we'll take a look at the love Christ has shown us by coming to our world as a baby and then later dying in our place. We'll be encouraged to place our focus on HIS love, and how our love is an automatic response to what he's done. His love truly does beget our love.
